Born 6/16/1901 in Oslo, Norway. Died 1/1/1975 of a heart attack in Santa Monica, California. Married to actress Ruth Matteson (1937-?). Raised in Seattle. Made his Broadway debut in 1929, then signed a contract with Paramount Pictures where he became a rehearsal director for Cecil B. Demille and Ernst Lubitsch. He returned to Broadway in 1935.

He returned to Hollywood in the 1940s where he directed a handful of films before moving into television where he directed episodes of Rocky Jones, Space Ranger; Terry and the Pirates; Family Theater; China Smith; Sheena: Queen of the Jungle; Forbidden Cargo. At the time of his death he was an executive at Hanna-Barbera.
