Spoiler : Levitt, Alfred Lewis (aka Tom August) Born in New York City; died 11/16/2002 at age 87 of heart failure in Los Angeles, California. Married to Helen Slotte (?-1993 her death). Writer that began his career as sports editor for the school paper at New York University's Bronx campus. Levitt moved to Hollywood in the late 1930s working as a movie script reader. Drafted into the Army in 1942, served in England. At the end of WWII, he was sent to France where he worked with photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson who was naking a film about the repatriation of prisoners of war and concentration camp survivors. Levitt was the script writer for the film titled Reunion, and used this credit to become a script writer in Hollywood including his first, 1948's The Boy With Green Hair. Levitt had been a member of the communist party, later quit the party in 1956. He was blacklisted during the 1950s and 1960s, but kept writing using the name of Tom August. By 1968 he was using his real name again, and by 1995 his real name was restored to 82 films he had worked on while he was blacklisted.
