Jarvis, Al (birth name was Alexander David Jarvis) Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada 7/4/1909 (some sources say Russia); died 5/6/1970 of a heart attack in Newport Beach, California. At some point, he immigrated to America, and was educated at The University of Southern California. Jarvis was also once a member of the Pasadena Community Playhouse.

Host of a syndicated radio series called Face The Music, for which no information has surfaced. Host of Can You Tie That? on KLAC-Los Angeles (1946). He returned to KFWB in the middle 1950s, but quit the business in 1959, as he hated rock and roll and would not play it.

Other sources credit Jarvis with the discovery of certain stars, creating the fore-runner of the USO by using stars to entertain troops, and originating the first television daily talk, music and variety show.

Host of Squeaky Mulligan, the Talking Cat, which was a 1947 local Los Angeles TV show. Screen debut playing himself in Make Believe Ballroom (1949). Last movie was playing Eden, the Judge in The Phantom Planet (1961).

Jarvis is credited with being the first radio disk jockey with his World's Largest Make-Believe Ballroom that was broadcast on KFWB-Los Angeles, California beginning in 1932. Jarvis stayed at KFWB until 1946 when he joined KLAC-Los Angeles.
