Old Time Radio Downloads > Sci Fi > Tom Corbett

Tom Corbett, otherwise known by the title Tom Corbett, Space Cadet, was an adventure series based on Robert Heinlein's 1948 novel called Space Cadet. It started on January 1, 1952 and lasted until June 26 of the same year.

The series followed the story of three major characters—Tom Corbett, Roger Manning, and Astro—the Space Academy cadets training to become members of the Solar Guard, and elite group of space soldiers. Their adventures took place within, and sometimes beyond, the solar system. Frankie Thomas Jr. starred as Tom Corbett. He, along with the rest of the radio cast, reprised their respective roles in the television adaptation of the series.

Apart from the radio and television versions, Space Cadet was also depicted in many books, comics, and comic strips.

ABOUT OLD TIME RADIO
The buzz-term for Old Time Radio is "OTR". OTR usually means radio broadcasting from the golden age of radio, mostly before 1964.These shows from the pre-television age include adventure, comedies, mystery shows, western dramas and shows from World War II. These programs feature the best talent of the day and were broadcast nearly as widely as cable programs today. And just like TV today, families would gather around their crystal radio sets to enjoy the entertainment together.
