From 1950 to 1953, Hollywood Star Playhouse has aired suspenseful dramas which starred big names in Hollywood. In its three years, it was able to bring theater (play) to the comfort of everyone’s home (house), thus the name. The playhouse genre became popular especially since this period of time was the post-economic depression of US. People who can’t afford Broadway can instead opt to the radio show. Marilyn Monroe, in fact, made her radio debut with one of the episodes of Hollywood Star PlayHouse in September 1952.
