American Weekly was a radio series of different genres. Adapted from the American Weekly magazine, the show featured a wide variety of adventure, drama, and mystery stories. Each episode began with a teaser for an unknown product, which would be revealed before the show ends.  This added excitement for the show's listeners.

Program #20. Hearst syndication. "When The Comet Strikes". Sponsored by: The American Weekly ($1000 a year for life slogan contest). The program was "staged at the studios of The General Broadcasting Company at New York." The final commercial heard on each program during the series is a music fill for local insert. The program was called, "Front Page Drama," starting with program #37. Leonard Cox (writer, director).

ABOUT OLD TIME RADIO
The buzz-term for Old Time Radio is "OTR". OTR usually means radio broadcasting from the golden age of radio, mostly before 1964.These shows from the pre-television age include adventure, comedies, mystery shows, western dramas and shows from World War II. These programs feature the best talent of the day and were broadcast nearly as widely as cable programs today. And just like TV today, families would gather around their crystal radio sets to enjoy the entertainment together.
