Granby’s Green Acres was a 30-minute comedy radio show that focused on the life of John Granby, a former bank teller, and Martha Granby, his talkative wife. The couple left their life in the city to pursue a much easier, slower-paced life of a farmer. However, they did not expect what was there in the life of every farmer. Gale Gordon and Bea Benaderet played the roles of John Granby and Martha Granby, respectively.
Other stars in the show included Louise Ericsson as Janice, John and Martha’s daughter, and Parley Baer as Eb, their old-man hand. It was Jay Sommers who produced, wrote, and directed the show. CBS launched the show’s first episode on July 3, 1950 and its last on August 21, 1950, producing a total of 6 episodes.
