Good News was a musical variety show that were also known by the names of Good News of 1938, Good News of 1939, and Maxwell House Coffee Time. It starred Jimmy Stewart, Robert Taylor, Frank Morgan and Dick Powell, as well as other stars including JOan Crawford, Judy Garland, Ann Sothern, Alice Faye, Mickey Rooney, Lionel Barrymore, William Gargan, and Clark Gable. This radio show allowed its listener to have a glimpse of the life in Hollywood.
The show was produced by MGM and sponsored by the coffee brand Maxwell House with $25,000 per week. The show featured celebrities inside their dressing rooms, meetings of MGM executives, and snippets of Hollywood events. Stars from movies were also interviewed and movie previews were also done for the listening audience.
