Blondie was a radio sitcom based on Chic Young’s comic strip of the same name. Penny Singleton starred as Blondie Boopadoop, opposite Arthur Lake, who played her love interest Dagwood Bumstead. The radio version of the Blondie came after the immensely successful 1938 Blondie film which also starred Singleton and Lake.

Blondie was originally created as a summer replacement for the Eddie Cantor Show. However, when the latter did not return after summer, its sponsor, Camel Cigarettes, decided to keep Blondie on-air.
