The Bickersons was an extremely popular radio sitcom that aired on NBC in 1946, and moved to CBS a year later until its end in 1951. It featured Don Ameche and Frances Langford as husband and wife John and Blanche Bickerson. They were portrayed as an "unhappy" couple who were always on a verbal war. The show was created by TV director Phillip Rapp, who once worked as a writer on the Eddie Cantor Show. John and Blanche first appeared on a short comedy sketches at The Chase and Sanborn Hour, on The Old Gold Show, and on Drene Time.
