Big Jon and Sparkie was a wonderful and whimsical 12-minute plus syndicated radio serial created and produced by Jon Arthur.  While the program was crafted to capture a younger audience, both adults and kids enjoyed the witty and sparkling humor delivered by this old time radio show.  With it's catchy opening theme "Teddy Bear's Picnic," Big Jon and Sparkie charmed listener's across America and left them enthralled with the adventures of the strange and endearing tandem of Big Jon and "Sparkie," the little elf from the land of make-believe.  This series of old radio shows ran from 1950 and constantly evolved until it developed into a longer format and was broadcasted as "No School Today." To quote celebrated old time radio reference book writer John Dunning, "It remained, for those who heard it, one of the most important and poignant pieces of childhood."
